SENIOR’S MASS & TEA: There will be no Senior’s Mass in January.
CARE GROUP: The Care Group’s sewing group will be meeting again in the hall on Thursday, 9 January at 9.00am. All are welcome to join in the fellowship and friendship.
All are invited to the Farewell Mass of Thanksgiving for Archbishop Buti Tlhagale OMI on Saturday 11 January at 9.30am at the Cathedral of Christ the King.
Archbishop Buti Tlhagale invites all to the ‘Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus’ (Dilexit Nos), the enthronement of the statue of Mary the Mother of Mercy, and the blessing of the Stations of the Cross and the Rosary Garden at the Marian Shrine at Magaliesberg on Sat 18 Jan at 9.30am.All Catholics are invited to the installation of His Eminence, Cardinal Stephen Brislin, to the vacant See of the Archdiocese of Johannesburg at 9.30am on Saturday 25 January, 2025, at St Benedict College, Bedfordview, – sports grounds. Tickets are required for the installation. Please contact the office with names and numbers and if you would like to catch a bus from St John’s.
You are also invited to the celebration of “taking possession of the Cathedral” on the following day (Sun 26/01/2025) at 2.00pm at the Cathedral of Christ the King.
Sacraments and Preparation
BAPTISM: Parents are required to attend a course before the baptism of their child. Contact the office on 010 222 0631 to make an appointment to meet with Father to discuss baptism and attend preparation classes.
CONFESSIONS: Confessions are on Saturdays from 3.45pm till 4.45pm, or by appointment.
MARRIAGE: Contact Fr Bafana three to six months before the event. Couples are required to attend a pre-marriage course of instruction or an Engaged Encounter weekend.
Children of catechetical age should attend classes from Grade 1 to Grade 7 in order to receive continued formation and to ensure all Sacraments are received.
Confirmation classes are attended from Grade 8 and is a 3.5 year program.
PRAYING THE ROSARY:
The Rosary is prayed as a community every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday morning at 8.30anm before the 9.00am Mass. All parishioners are invited to join us.
